Hindustan celebrated “Pollution Free Green Diwali” creating awareness to restrict usage of crackers and prevent damages caused fire accidents, asthma, noise and land pollution and garbage accumulation on 24 October 2019. A vow was taken during the Pollution Free Diwali campaign so as to discourage bursting of crackers and stay against child labour being predominantly seen in workshops producing fireworks; and encourage green Diwali in form of promoting greenery. Dr.Pon. Ramalingam, Registrar in his special message instructed students to refrain bursting crackers and rather celebrate having concern for the ecology. Dr. T. Manvel Raj, Dean Student Affairs; Mr. N. Jeyakkannan and Mr. B. Royson, Officers Student Affairs organized the programme. The Rotaract Club of Hindustan in association with Rotary Club of Chennai Capitalcelebrated Diwali in unique style in Physically Challenged People’s Home at Padur. The team entertained the inmates of the home with songs and dance, and distributed books, sweets and gifts to the children. Similarly,Y'S Men Club of Hindustan Youth in association with Y'S Men Club of Mylapore & Y'S Men Club of Chennai, OMR celebrated Diwali by distributing sweets to needy people at Irular Colony, Thiruporur.
