The World Mental Health Day 2025 Celebration was successfully conducted on 10th October 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Good Shepherd Hall, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science. The awareness programme was jointly organized by the Office of Student Affairs and the Department of Psychology and witnessed the active participation of around 200 students, along with faculty members. The event aimed to promote mental health awareness and address the sensitive issue of self-harm among the student community.
The programme commenced with a solemn prayer by Rev. Justin Jose, followed by the Thamizh Thai Vazhthu, reflecting cultural respect and unity. A welcome address set the context of the programme and highlighted the importance of mental wellness in today’s academic environment. The Presidential Address by Dr. S. Ganesan, Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and mentally healthy campus.
The Chief Guest, Dr. S. Divya Prabha, M.Sc., Ph.D., Counselling Psychologist and Founder of Steps Foundations, delivered an insightful guest lecture on the theme “Scars That Don’t Show: Addressing Self-Harm and Mental Wellness.” Her session provided valuable insights into the psychological aspects of self-harm, the significance of early intervention, coping strategies, and the importance of open dialogue. The lecture deeply resonated with the audience and encouraged students to seek help without stigma.
The programme also featured a Prize Distribution Ceremony, recognizing participants and contributors, followed by a Vote of Thanks acknowledging the efforts of the organizers, speakers, and attendees. The event concluded at 3:30 PM with the rendition of the National Anthem. Overall, the programme was impactful and informative, leaving participants better informed and motivated to promote mental well-being within their communities.
