Pongal Celebration 2024

HITS celebrated the Tamil harvest festival – Pongal on 13 January 2024. The chief guest for the celebration was Thiru. G. Selvam, Member of Parliament, Kanchipuram Constituency and the guest of Honour was Thiru S. S. Balaji, Member of Legislative Assembly, Thiruporur Constituency. The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. K. A. S. Thara Sudhakar, President, Padur Panchayat, Dr. Muthukumar Subramanian, Registrar, Dr. Pon. Ramalingam, Director, IQAC, University Officials, staff and students attended the event. All the dignitaries participated in Pongal making event. They also appreciated the University in conducting traditional festivals which propagate the Tamil culture and tradition among the youth.
As part of the celebration, many traditional games were conducted for the staff, students and the wards of the faculty members. Participants enjoyed the bullock cart and tractor ride around the campus. The Pongal recipe prepared by the staff members was served to the participants. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the games. The event also witnessed the performance of mayilattam, maadatam, karakaattam, thaapaattam that were performed by professionals.
