The Center for Research and Consultancy (CRC) has been established to promote academic research, Sponsored research and consultancy. Researchers include full-time scholars, part-time scholars, faculty members, postgraduate and undergraduate students and they collaborate with colleagues across the University. The Center for Research & Consultancy is headed by Director (Research) and assisted by Dean (Research) and an IPR Coordinator managing IP-related issues.

Research Policy

To achieve the mission, a robust Research Policy aims at improving the research culture on three domains in the University.
1) Trifocal function of Faculty (Teaching, Research & Development, Community Service and Extension)
2) Faculty attributes and Output (Knowledge, skills, values and attitude)
3) Institutional Attributes and Policies which influence each other.

  • Achieving 100 % qualified (PhD) faculty by 2025
  • Human Resources Development through generating Quality Ph.D.
  • Dissemination of research scholar’s knowledge in peer reviewed international journals in the form of quality publications.
  • Intellectual property rights by Getting 100 Patents (Process, Product and Design) by 2025
  • The creation of awareness about function of faculty regarding Teaching,Research and generation of knowledge / technology useful to the society.

Action Plan

  • Recruitment of faculty with PhD
  • Existing faculty shall be encouraged to do PhD at the earliest.
  • More full time research scholars to be admitted.
  • Research fellows to be allowed to have co-supervisors from IIT, Anna University or other Institutions of international repute.
  • The research fellows to be encouraged to have co- supervisors from Collaborating Universities abroad and permitted to spend some time in those Universities.
  • The faculty from collaborating Universities from abroad and Institutions shall be made Adjunct Faculty
  • Video Conferencing Facility already shall be used for regular interactions.
  • Further optimization of Research Facilities (Space and equipment)

About Us

The Center for Research and Consultancy (CRC) has been established to promote academic research, Sponsored research and consultancy. Researchers include full time scholars, part time scholars, faculty members, and post graduate and undergraduate students and they collaborate with colleagues across the University. The Center for Research & Consultancy is headed by Director (Research) and assisted by Dean (Research Initiatives) and three Research Coordinators looking after Academic Research, Funded Research, Consultancy respectively and an IPR Coordinator managing IP related issues.

The Center has evolved policies for Sponsored Research, Consultancy and Intellectual Property Rights. The primary objective of the CRC is to promote quality research programs, facilitate and support multi-disciplinary, inter University, International research proposals and Institute-industry interaction through:

  • Developing and nurturing international linkages for research and development.
  • Organizing Generic Training Programs for Research Scholars.
  • Formation of Research Forums and Research Groups
  • Interaction between various Research Groups through research forum meeting.
  • Colloquium for Research Scholars.
  • Fostering of relationships with funding agencies to better understand research priorities.
  • Facilitating project proposal preparation and submission, establishment of project accounts, review for large and complex projects.
  • Support Short-term courses/Seminars/Workshops for effective dissemination of knowledge.
  • Organizing Lectures by Eminent Scientists from various R&D Organizations.
  • Establishing connectivity between Faculty and Scientists of various R&D Organizations and Industry through visits.
  • Improving the Institute-Industry interaction and provide need based technology to existing industries.
  • Identifying and protecting intellectual property rights.

The Center for Research and Consultancy (CRC) is a service unit under the Office of the Director(Research). It provides valuable support in fulfilling the University’s Vision-Mission through its programs and services. CRC promotes and nurtures a culture of genuine intellectual inquiry, advances inter-and multi-disciplinary studies, and serves as a clearing house for information related to faculty research activities on campus, among others, in support of this Vision-Mission.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

  • Administers the Academic Research Program
  • Monitors externally-funded projects undertaken by the different departments and research centers and progress of research and research scholars
  • Disseminates salient findings of completed research projects
  • Provides project development and implementation assistance
  • Documents and assists in the formulation, review, and amendment of guidelines and policies governing research in the University

Academic Research

Ph.D.

Categories:

a) Full Time Candidates: A candidate who wishes to work for Ph.D. degree on full time
b) Part Time Internal: All staff members of the institute having the minimum qualifications and with two years of experience can work on     a part time basis for the Ph.D. degree.
c) Part Time External: Teachers working in the other colleges in permanent positions and employees of R & D organizations, National Laboratories and industries with minimum two years of working experience can work on a part time basis for the Ph.D. degree

Ph.D. in Humanities and Sciences including Physical EducationCandidates should have passed his/her postgraduate degree in the related branches of study with a minimum of 55% marks/ CGPA 5.7 on a ten-point scale.
Ph.D. in Architecture, Planning and DesignCandidates should have passed his/her postgraduate degree in the related branches of study with a minimum of 55% marks/ CGPA 5.7 on a ten-point scale.
Ph.D. in ManagementCandidates should have passed his/her postgraduate degree in the related branches of study with a minimum of 55% marks/ CGPA 5.7 on a ten-point scale.

Procedure

Admission is generally offered on the basis of academic credentials, written tests and interviews.

Applications can be filled online with payment of Rs.1100/- (Non-Refundable)

Eligible candidates will be called for a written test. Those who qualify for the written test based on the cutoff mark decided by the university will be called for the final interview

HITS is now accepting applications for its full-time Ph.D. degree program across Engineering, Management disciplines, Arts, and Science. The program aims to mentor scholars with an innovative approach, guiding them to become leading researchers in their respective fields, ultimately earning their Ph.D. degree.

Founded with the vision of fostering innovation in higher education and emerging areas of the knowledge economy, HITS is committed to nurturing top-tier research talent. This Ph.D. program aligns with our broader mission of becoming one of India's leading research-driven universities.

Important Dates

Last Date to Submit Online Application: October 24th, 2024
Examination Date: October 30th , 2024

PhD Admissions 2024 Notification

The applications for admission into PhD programmes are invited throughout the year. There is no last date for the applications, however, selection process will take place two times in a year (January and June). The applications can be made online after paying a non-refundable fee of Rs.1000/- (Rupees One thousand and two hundred only).

Eligibility & Admission Procedure

Eligibility & Selection Criteria The candidate should possess at least 60% marks in aggregate or its equivalents grade in master’s degree level. The admission is based on a written entrance examination (2 times a year, January and June) followed by an interview.

Applicants who have qualified national wide examinations, UGC-NET (including JRF)/joint UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ICAR (ASRB)-NET/ICMR JRF/DBT-JRF/NBHM are exempted from entrance examination and will appear directly to the discussion meeting for PhD enrolment. The national fellowship holders and potential DBT INSPIRE applicants are welcome to contact the faculties of their research interest.

University Fellowship

Eligible Ph.D. students selected for the program will receive a fellowship of ₹25,000 per month in accordance with HITS guidelines.

HITS - Ph.D Entrance Exam

The HITS Ph.D. Entrance Exam will be conducted online via MS Teams on October 30th 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The exam will consist of objective-type questions with multiple-choice options (MCQs) and will have a duration of 2 hours. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Funded Projects

  • Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science offers unparalleled resources to the research community. The Center for Research and Consultancy supports the faculty and students in all aspects of their work associated with sponsored research, consultancy and training. Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science have 14 research centers with latest laboratory facilities and tools that facilitate the students and faculty in advanced research work.
  • The Center for Research and Consultancy serves as the coordinating office for externally funded research and Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy services. The goal of the Center for Research and Consultancy is to assist faculty and professional research staff in their efforts to secure and ensure proper stewardship of external funding.   • Research fellows to be allowed to have co-supervisors from IIT, Anna University or other Institutions of international repute.
  • The research fellows to be encouraged to have co- supervisors from Collaborating Universities abroad and permitted to spend some time in those Universities.
  • The faculty from collaborating Universities from abroad and Institutions shall be made Adjunct Faculty
  • Video Conferencing Facility already shall be used for regular interactions.

The Center for Research and Consultancy (CRC) is a service unit under the Office of the Director(Research). It provides valuable support in fulfilling the University’s Vision-Mission through its programs and services. CRC promotes and nurtures a culture of genuine intellectual inquiry, advances inter-and multi-disciplinary studies, and serves as a clearing house for information related to faculty research activities on campus, among others, in support of this Vision-Mission.

Categories:

a) Full Time Candidates: A candidate who wishes to work for Ph.D. degree on full time
b) Part Time Internal: All staff members of the institute having the minimum qualifications and with two years of experience can work on     a part time basis for the Ph.D. degree.
c) Part Time External: Teachers working in the other colleges in permanent positions and employees of R & D organizations, National Laboratories and industries with minimum two years of working experience can work on a part time basis for the Ph.D. degree

PhD Admissions 2024 Notification

The applications for admission into PhD programmes are invited throughout the year. There is no last date for the applications, however, selection process will take place two times in a year (January and June). The applications can be made online after paying a non-refundable fee of Rs.1000/- (Rupees One thousand and two hundred only).

Eligibility & Admission Procedure

Eligibility & Selection Criteria The candidate should possess at least 60% marks in aggregate or its equivalents grade in master’s degree level. The admission is based on a written entrance examination (2 times a year, January and June) followed by an interview.

Applicants who have qualified national wide examinations, UGC-NET (including JRF)/joint UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ICAR (ASRB)-NET/ICMR JRF/DBT-JRF/NBHM are exempted from entrance examination and will appear directly to the discussion meeting for PhD enrolment. The national fellowship holders and potential DBT INSPIRE applicants are welcome to contact the faculties of their research interest.

University Fellowship

Eligible Ph.D. students selected for the program will receive a fellowship of ₹25,000 per month in accordance with HITS guidelines.

HITS - Ph.D Entrance Exam

The HITS Ph.D. Entrance Exam will be conducted online via MS Teams on October 30th 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The exam will consist of objective-type questions with multiple-choice options (MCQs) and will have a duration of 2 hours. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Funded Projects

  • Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) is committed to provide excellence in applied research as well as development of innovative technologies for the future. HITS executed many major R&D projects and consultancy services to Government agencies, public and private sector industries and international institutions. HITS's research strength lies in the strength of Faculty, Research Scholars and Students in addition to extensive modern facilities and collaboration with leading academic and research organizations within and outside the country.
  • Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science offers unparalleled resources to the research community. The Center for Research and Consultancy supports the faculty and students in all aspects of their work associated with sponsored research, consultancy and training. Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science have 14 research centers with latest laboratory facilities and tools that facilitate the students and faculty in advanced research work.
  • The Center for Research and Consultancy serves as the coordinating office for externally funded research and Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy services. The goal of the Center for Research and Consultancy is to assist faculty and professional research staff in their efforts to secure and ensure proper stewardship of external funding. It provides Information regarding funding agency and thrust areas. It also reviews and provides necessary guidance to improve the proposal in line with the requirements of funding agency/industries.
