This is a 5-year integrated program which includes B.Tech. in Civil Engineering and Master of Technology in Construction Engineering & Management. The main objective of the programme is to focus on various construction techniques and recent trends in construction with a solid Civil Engineering foundation. It also emphasizes management techniques which is useful in planning and construction activities.
The 3 ½ year Civil Engineering Programme will help the students to plan, analyse, design, construct, maintain and manage Civil Engineering systems. The fundamental principles are applied to study the behavior of solids, fluids, soils, surveying and Environmental Engineering. The 1 ½ year Construction Engineering & Management program increases the students’ understanding of the complete construction industry, technical management & leadership aspects of professional construction management. The curriculum includes subjects such as construction planning scheduling and control, project formulation and appraisal, shoring, scaffolding and formwork, quantitative techniques in management, construction project management, project safety management, advanced construction techniques and contract laws & regulation.
Qualified students with knowledge of Construction Management can get placed as planning engineers, quality control engineers and project managers in numerous government departments like Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Railways, Metro Rail, Highways, Indian Aluminium Limited (IAL), Public Works Department (PWD), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Pollution Control Board, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) etc. Opportunities are also available in private sectors like Gammon India Ltd., Larsen and Toubro Ltd. etc. as a design engineer, site engineer and planning engineer.
