- Specialization in Cyber Security
About the Course
The Cyber Security market currently at $1 billion, is expected to grow to $35 billion by 2025. The demand for skilled professionals in this field is very high. This demand is coming from domestic companies spending in the country; multinational companies investing in India; increasing government activity in the cyber and Cyber Security space; and Information Technology firms bringing in work from clients.
The apex body for the IT industry NASSCOM launched Cyber Security Task Force earlier this year. The aim was to build India as a global hub for providing Cyber Security solutions, prepare the Cyber Security R&D plan and develop a skilled workforce of Cyber Security experts. The task force aims to grow the Cyber Security industry in India from the 1% market share to 10% by 2025; create a trained base of 1 million certified and skilled Cyber Security professionals and build 1000+ startups in Cyber Security from India.
The growth of Information Technology has radically changed the IT infrastructure from a set of fixed assets fully controlled by an organisation to a dynamically varying set of resources. These combined with plethora of interconnected devices forming the so-called “Internet-of-Things” have led to an increasing vulnerability to cyber attacks. With string of data breaches at large organisations and cyber criminals targeting not only sensitive government and corporate information, but also the common man, there is an increased need of trained professionals today to tackle the ever growing menace.
According to NASSCOM Cyber Security Task Force, India has a great opportunity to create a workforce of one million cyber security professionals to provide security solutions and services to clients in India and abroad by 2020. The world faces a projected shortfall of 1.5 million Cyber Security experts today. The recent technological growth, the use of internet, and availability and sharing of information and data have tremendously increased threats to organizations and individuals making it a challenge for users and system administrators to preserve security of the data exchanged over the internet. Due to the requirement of sophisticated knowledge and tools to keep systems secure, there is a big need in India and around the world for information security professionals who are well-educated about the various aspects of information security. A computer science graduate can pursue a post graduate programme like MTech Cyber Security because of the huge demand for such professionals. The main objective MTech Cyber Security is to train students to become information security professionals for the high-end jobs in security industry.
The M.Techprogramme in Cyber Security at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science aims to bridge the skill gap between the manpower needs and available talent pool by developing trained professionals. The objective of this programme is to create security professionals who will be handling the real-life problems and challenges the industry is facing today in connection to cyber security. This programme offers a brilliant career pathway to those who are passionate about knowing more about security challenges and solutions as well as practising cyber security, security analytics and related tools and technologies.
