    About the department

    The department of Mathematics under the School of Basic and Applied Sciences was established in 1985. The department integrates all the programs of Engineering and Applied Sciences by imparting the courses on Mathematics in UG and PG level and emphasizes a balanced approach, integrating rigorous theoretical study with practical application in science, engineering, economics, and data analysis.

    The department offers BSc Mathematics and Data Science, MSc Mathematics (Integrated) and Ph. D program. Faculty members are dedicated educators and active researchers, often engaged in interdisciplinary projects and contributing to advancements in pure and applied mathematics. Students are encouraged to participate in research, internships, and mathematics competitions to enhance their learning experience.

    The objective of the department is to train students in the innovative field of Applied Mathematics inculcating the concepts of computing, optimizing, grouping, classifying, testing and applying various tools of Mathematics in the field of Engineering and Technology.

    With a mission to inspire curiosity, nurture talent, and prepare students for the challenges of a rapidly evolving world, the Mathematics Department remains a vital part of the institution’s academic and intellectual life.

    Events

    International Conference on Computational Mathematics and Advances in Modern Technology

    The Department of Mathematics, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science hosted the “International Conference on Computational Mathematics and Advances in Modern Technology, ICCMAMT-2024” from October 16th- 18th 2024, in Hybrid Mode. International Conference on Computational Mathematics and Advances in Modern Technology, ICCMAMT-2024, commenced online on 16th October 2024 and continued hybrid from 17th to 18th October, 2024, marking a significant gathering of experts, academicians, and researchers dedicated to exploring advancements in computational mathematics and modern technology. This three-day event provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among participants from various institutions and countries.

    Guest lecture was organized by department of Mathematics collaboration with department of aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, HITS on 22.01.2025 as part of its on-going effort to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

    Math Quiz and Olympiad

    Department of Mathematics in association with Mathematics club conducted a Math Quiz and Olympiad for MSc Mathematics Students on 24.02.2025. 32 students were participated in the event.
