The Master’s degree in Social Work at HITS is dedicated to exploring the complexities of modern social life by applying advanced social work theories and methods within an interdisciplinary framework. About the Department
Established in 2019-20, the Department of Sociology at HITS is committed to exploring the complexities of modern social life through advanced sociological theories and interdisciplinary methods. In the MSW degree, students develop critical reading and theoretical insights focusing on foundational and structural issues of society.
In 2024-25, the department expanded its academic offerings with the launch of the Master of Social Work (MSW) program, featuring specializations in Developmental Social Work and Clinical Social Work.
Among the MSW colleges in Chennai, HITS supports both MSW and Doctoral Research in Sociology and Social Work, emphasizing interdisciplinary study and practical experience.
