Celebrating the Spirit of Youth, Culture, and Creativity Kalai Koodam is a vibrant festival that celebrates the integrated and diverse talents of India’s emerging youth. Serving as a dynamic platform for creativity and innovation, it embodies the essence of artistic excellence and cultural exchange.

With a core vision of promoting the arts and nurturing young talent, the festival highlights the rich heritage of South India—tracing its fascinating journey from ancient traditions to modern expressions of art, literature, aesthetics, and social thought.

By bringing together gifted youth from universities across the southern states, Kalai Koodam fosters unity in diversity, mutual understanding, and cultural appreciation. It inspires participants to embrace tradition as the foundation for contemporary artistic growth, creating a confluence of ideas where heritage meets innovation.

Our faculty members, composed of renowned scientists and industry leaders, are actively involved in research and encourage student participation. 5 faculty members of HITS have featured in the top 2% scientists of the world in the Stanford ranking. HITS is credited with over 6100+ publications in Scopus indexing; 32,395 Scopus Citations and 113 granted patents. HITS has received many Funded Research Projects from leading organizations like Department of Science and Technology (DST), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Naval Research Board (NRB), and many others.

HITS has signed 150+ MoUs with institutions, industries and organisations across 42 countries to leverage collective expertise and resources to make meaningful contributions to the global community. From student exchange, twinning, dual degree, cultural immersion, research abroad, faculty exchanges, joint research, consultancy projects, conferences, study tour to much more, HITS offers students and faculty
members the benefit of unique learning experiences, exposure to different academic cultures, and enhanced global perspectives.

About AIU

The Association of Indian Universities is an Apex Advisory Body on Higher Education mandated by the Ministry of Education to determine the equivalence of foreign degrees and conduct Youth Affairs & Sports Activities in the Higher Education Sector in India. At present, AIU has about 1111 member Universities (Central, Institutes of National Importance, State, and Private Universities), including 18 overseas Universities, and is serving the Higher Education Sector for the last 100 years. Many national luminaries have served this organization in different capacities, and the most prominent examples are Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Dr. Zakir Hussain, and Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, who have served as Presidents of AIU. The organization has worked as an intellectual resource of the country and has contributed to the policy processes of the government and its agencies. AIU has been annually organizing the Inter University Youth Festivals (UNIFESTS) since 1985 at the Zonal and National levels, where a large number of youth artistes from member Universities and its about 45,000 affiliated colleges participate. These festivals play a significant role in promoting in our youth a pride in Indian culture and an awareness of youth identity. AIU is the only nodal agency in the entire country for organizing the Inter University Youth Programs for about 40 million youth students of the Higher Education Sector in India. Also, this is the only establishment where the above-cited youth programs can be conceptualized and implemented for the students at the Zonal, National as well as International levels. In continuation of our endeavours and in addition to the above-mentioned youth festivals, the AIU has launched the organization of the Asian University Youth Festival (AUFEST), International Youth Festival, National Women Student Parliament, National Moot Court Competition and National Qawwali Competition, etc. From the last session, AIU has earmarked the entire country into eight zones for the smooth conduct of Youth Affairs Programs.

Judgment and Appeals

  • The decision of the jury members appointed for different events shall be final and
    binding on all.
  • It is expected that their judgment will be respected. In case of any dissatisfaction,
    the matter may be referred to the Jury of Appeals.
  • The Protest, if any, should be lodged with the Organizing Secretary/Convener of
    the Competition within one hour of the end of the competition.
  • No protest shall be entertained on matters regarding judgment.
  • Protests can be entertained on matters related to violation of rules or improper
    conduct of the contest. There will be a protest fee of INR 1000/- (One thousand)
    only. This fee will not be refunded unless the protest has been upheld by the Jury
    of Appeals.
  • No appeal shall lie against the decision of the Jury of Appeals
