Educating All Students to Achieve Today and Tomorrow in a Global Community and Economy

International Global Engagement Platform (Igep)

In this fast paced technology driven world where changes are happening, Higher Education Institutions are no exception. The task of engaging Post Millennial University students (Generation Z) in the learning process is proving to be a challenge and has evolved as an Art. Generation Z students are vibrant and prefer to explore new avenues and do not prefer to be within the four walls and also be exposed to traditional teaching. They disengage fairly quickly, if not actively engaged in the education process. Though many complain Gen Z as lethargic, not attentive, least bothered, but in reality they are active, attentive and responsible generation. They are motivated to indulge in experiential learning and engage in avenues of specific interest. Post Millennials appreciate and indulge in activities which add value and ignore things that don‘t add value.

GLOBAL WALKERS of HITS are the pride and the brand ambassadors of the institution who traverse various parts of the world etching an indelible mark in the various avenues they are engaged. It includes collaborative research, twinning programmes, student and staff exchange programmes semester abroad programmes, international summer internship programmes, cultural immersion, chancellor fellowship programmes, tech events and Management alliance events.

Understanding their pulse and designing the curriculum to meet their aspirations and goals, (HITS) had taken tremendous efforts to improve the quality of overall educational experience for its students. The institution has succeeded in understanding the requirements of the students of Gen Z.

The teaching fraternity of HITS also tread the globe to enrich their academic knowledge by participating in international conferences, seminars, workshops, involve in collaborative research projects and thus update with the latest trends in their respective fields of interest.

Both the faculty and the students of HITS

hits-faculty-students.png

HITS has thus evolved INTERNATIONAL GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT PLATFORM (iGEP) as an answer to create enriched global experiences both for the staff and the students.

iGEP platform has been created by the Office of International Affairs to provide international exposure for youth to engage them at global arena. More than 100/ of HITS students and teaching fraternity opt for iGEP and approximately 1000 students and 200 staff members of HITS, have travelled abroad utilizing the iGEP platform. Interestingly all participants reveal increased self confidence and international exposure. Magic of learning unconsciously through global exposure has enabled them to rise to greater heights in the academic world and the world of work and life.

Going abroad for learning is gaining popularity among Gen Z students, they visit a partner university for 1 week to one semester to study a course, and culturally immerse in the country. Interactions with international students from around the globe, global internships, attending sessions of foreign professors, foreign language learning, are the value addition which students benefit by enrolling in HITS. They can spend one or two semesters on exchange programs (Erasmus+, Mevlana, AUAP partners, MOU partner agreements). Hindustan through its global engagement strongly promotes globalization and aims to provide every student an opportunity to interact with International students through outward or inward mobility schemes. Students and faculty from partner universities visit HITS and thus provide opportunities for interactions and peer learning. Also, 20% of HITS faculty travel abroad for staff exchange programmes, guest lectures, conferences, etc., and bring back valuable experiences to enrich and strengthen the academic community at HITS.

HITS has been a pioneer in implementing students exchange programmes and morethan 1000 students from HITS have so far travelled to Moscow, France, Germany, Turkey, Korea, Latvia, Germany, Italy, USA, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Poland and many more nations. HITS also receives international students from partner universities for exchange programs and admission into various programs. HITS has welcomed close to 140 exchange students from partner universities in France, Turkey, Morocco, Brazil, Korea, China, japan, Germany, USA etc. HITS faculty have travelled to Turkey, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, USA, Latvia, Korea, Switzerland and more over the years. iGEP is gaining popularity amongst HITS members due to varied schemes from which they are able to choose and travel abroad for global exposure.

Also, 20% of HITS faculty travel abroad for staff exchange programmes, guest lectures, conferences, etc., and bring back valuable experiences to enrich and strengthen the academic community at HITS.
