  • The Civil Engineering Department is one of the oldest departments in Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science started in 1985. It offers one under graduate programme with three specializations and three post graduate programmes in Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Environmental Engineering. The department has highly qualified and well experienced faculty who are involved in research in the areas of Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Resources Management etc. The department has successfully completed many research projects funded by government agencies and has very close interaction with many leading industries and research laboratories in areas relating to green materials, health monitoring, construction management etc.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • PO1. To provide students with a sound foundation in Mathematical, Scientific and Engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyze engineering problems and to prepare them for higher studies.

UG

B.Tech in Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering involves planning, designing, executing and maintaining structural works. Civil Engineers develop infrastructure to have a profound effect on the society considering the function, aesthetics, economics and sustainability.

Integrated

MTech (Integrated) in Civil Engineering with specialization in Construction Engineering & Management

This is a 5-year integrated program which includes B.Tech. in Civil Engineering and Master of Technology in Construction Engineering & Management. The main objective of the programme is to focus on various construction techniques and recent trends in construction with a solid Civil Engineering foundation. It also emphasizes management techniques which is useful in planning and construction activities and increases the students' understanding of the complete construction industry, technical management & leadership aspects of professional construction management.

PG

  • MTech in Structural Engineering

    The Structural Engineering course aims at providing Civil Engineering graduates with the advanced conceptual understanding, detailed knowledge and special technical skills appropriate for analysis and design of structures such as dams, bridges, pipelines, roads, towers and buildings, transport systems, harbours, airports and railways.

  • MTech in Environmental Engineering

    Environmental Engineering Programme aims to provide Engineering graduates with the advanced conceptual understanding of water and wastewater Engineering, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, Air Pollution and Control, EIA Studies and Design of water and wastewater Collection system and treatment units all to meet the needs of developmental projects and industries.

  • MTech in Construction Engineering & Management

    The Construction Engineering and Management course aims at providing the graduate engineers with knowledge of effective and quality construction management practices leading to savings in time and cost of construction projects and to make the postgraduates effective Project Managers.

  • MTech in Highway Engineering

    The Highway Engineering programme aims to provide anin-depth knowledge in Traffic Engineering, Transport Planning, Highway Design and Construction, Sustainable Urban and Transport Development so that graduates will be efficient enough to take up field projects and becomea full-fledged Transport and Highway Planner/Engineer.
