About the Program

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCES

B.Sc. Data Science is a three-year UGC recognized undergraduate Program offered by the Department of Computer Applications. This Program is a study that deals with a large volume of data and its processing, analyzing and visualizing the data using modern tools and techniques. The students can acquire the ability to develop strategies for large data handling and it provides tremendous career opportunities in the future for them.

The curriculum is uniquely framed to provide theoretical and practical exposure in the field of Data Science. The course in the curriculum includes, Data Science Fundamentals, Data Analysis, Python For Data Science, Data Analytics Using R, Business Analytics, Data Handling And Visualization, Big Data And Analytics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Techniques And Tools For Data Science etc.,The students will acquire the knowledge to process, analyze, improve and enrich the data to make informed decisions for the company.

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the Computer Applications are listed below:

  • PEO 1: To prepare graduates to be successful professionals in industry, government, academia, research, entrepreneurial pursuit, and consulting firms.
  • PEO 2: To prepare graduates to achieve peer recognition, as individuals and as team players, through demonstration of good analytical, design, implementation, and interpersonal skills.
  • PEO 3: To prepare graduates to contribute to society as broadly educated, expressive ethical, and responsible citizens with proven expertise
  • PEO 4: To prepare graduates to pursue life-long learning to fulfil their goal.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (PO’S)

At the end of this program, graduates will be able to

  • Computer knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, and computer Fundamentals to IT applications.
  • Design/Development of solutions: Design solutions for IT applications using the latest technologies and develop and implement the solutions using various latest languages.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex IT applications with an understanding of the limitations.
  • Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the IT analyst solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge and need for sustainable development.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
