SCHOOL OF PLANNING, ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN EXCELLENCE

About the Program

Interior design is the art and science of analyzing people's behavior in order to design useful areas within a structure. It's a 4 years undergraduate program that focuses on balancing creativity with thoughtful, pragmatic design thinking. HITS design programs aim to create an environment that promotes education while also encouraging innovation and social responsibility. The program is designed to help students understand human habitation by exposing them to a variety of situations through in-class live experiences, field trips, living with craftspeople, and case studies encountered throughout their academic careers. Students are able to be both introspective and responsive designers as a result of these interactions. The curriculum is designed to support students' holistic development, with a focus on developing skills, knowledge, critical faculties, and logical thinking. As a result, learning entails simultaneous inputs from theory and workshop subjects, which are eventually blended in design activities completed as design studios.
