The Department of Automobile Engineering at HITS offers a range of modern undergraduate programs and a host of opportunities at Master's degree and at PhD level. These highly skilled graduates are in huge demand and contribute significantly to the development of the region. Staff members have built an excellent national and international record in the application of Vehicle Safety and Telematics in association with Trier University, Germany under the DAAD Project. Research funding has been provided by DAAD German Academic Exchange Service “A New Passage to India-German – Indian Higher Education Cooperation 2019-2023”.

About the Program

The M.Tech  Automobile Engineering program with specialization in Smart Mobility offers an unique opportunity for students and aims to address the growing need for skilled professionals in Intelligent Vehicular Technology. This program is offered in collaboration with the Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) and allied industry partners, ensuring a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the latest industry standards and technological advancements in Smart Mobility.

About HITS

HINDUSTAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE (HITS) a Deemed to be University, is a leading prestigious and recognized institution in India. Established in 1985, it offers a wide spectrum of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Research and Doctoral Programmes in diverse fields of Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Management, Law, Fashion Design, Aviation, Applied Sciences, Allied Sciences and Liberal Arts. About GARC

GLOBAL AUTOMOTIVE RESEARCH CENTRE (GARC) is a state-of-the-art test Centre established by Ministry of Heavy Industries and PE, Govt. of India (under NATRIP), located at Oragadam near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. GARC has been authorized as a test agency under CMVR 126 by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. Of India. GARC has full-fledged R&D and Homologation Test Facilities including Test Tracks to certify all category of vehicles, systems and components as per national and international standards. As part of Government of India’s FAME-India Scheme, GARC established test facilities for development and certification testing of electric and hybrid electric vehicles.

One of the Centre of Excellence in GARC. The general purpose of the Automotive Infotronics lab is to offer a platform for developing, testing, evaluation and validation of Electronic Control Units devoted to vehicle or vehicle components in terms of the hardware and the software. Hardware-in-Loop, MCDF, CAD/CAE – Catia V6, Siemens NX, Altair Hyperworks, MSC Software, MATLAB, Rapid Proto Typing etc.,

Scope

The two-year M.Tech. in Automotive Technology aims to fill the critical needs of the industry and to fill the gap in the availability of highly skilled AT scientists and engineers.

The automotive sector has seen unprecedented growth in the last decade. This has led to a number of Indian and multinational companies setting up their manufacturing and in many cases their major R & D facilities in India.

The program content delivers a comprehensive range of topics integral to the study of Automotive Technology.

These include Advanced Internal Combustion Engines, Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, Fuel Cell Technology, Autotronics and Vehicle Intelligence and ECU Development in Automotive Systems to name but a few.

Graduates of the program may also wish to continue to PhD level in this exciting field of study.

Program Structure

The program contains challenging and interesting modules delivered by lecturers who are experts in AT. You will also be presented with opportunities to work on new trends and recent developments linked to the domain expertise of staff in the department. The program places significant emphasis on student learning by doing. It adopts a practical, hands-on, approach to learning, where all modules are fully assessed using continuous assessment methods. This 65-credit program is delivered over four semesters (21+19+13+12). Each semester has a number of mandatory modules and a choice of electives.
