The Aeronautical Engineering course trains the students in the design and development of structural components. The course explores new areas and creates new avenues in the field of Aircraft structural components and focuses on developing talented engineers in the new technologies and business management skills. The field of activity of a qualified engineer involves development (construction, analysis and testing), priming of work, fabrication and observation of the functionality of Aircraft and Helicopter structures. The students undergo rigorous training in simulation with the software, such as, MATLAB SIMULINK, ANSYS, MSC/NASTRAN and LABVIEW. The students design and develop according to the specified standards and demonstrate project work in the field of metallic and composite structures.
Course Structure
The course is designed for students who have interest in Aeronautical Structure, Aerodynamics and Computation Fluid Dynamics. Aeronautical engineering prepares students for exciting and rewarding careers with the required technical expertise.
Core subjects
Elective subjects
Aerodynamics
Computational Fluid Dynamics
Aerodynamics
Aero elasticity
Aircraft structures
Helicopter Aerodynamics
Aerospace propulsion
Industrial Aerodynamics
Rocketry and Space Mechanics
Fatigue & Fracture Mechanics
Finite element method
Theory of vibrations
By the end of the course the students are exposed to expert knowledge in Aeronautical Engineering subjects and they apply innovative ideas to their final year projects.
Under the TIFAC-CORE project of the Government of India, the department has acquired specialized electronic equipment for training the students in avionics engineering. The acquisitions include the following:
Ultrasonic flaw detector
