About Department
The Department of Automobile Engineering at HITS offer a range of modern undergraduate programmes and a host of opportunities at Master's degree and at PhD level. Our industry engaged programmes match the needs of our economy and have an excellent reputation for producing the most employable Automobile graduates in the region. These highly skilled graduates are in huge demand and contribute significantly to the development of the region. Staff members have built an excellent national and international record in the application of Vehicle Safety and Telematics in association with Trier University, Germany under DAAD Project. Research funding has been provided by DAAD German Academic Exchange Service “A New Passage to India-German – Indian Higher Education Co-operation 2019-2023”.
About the Program
The Automotive Technology course caters to train the students to Design, Develop, Manufacture, Simulate, and Maintenance of Vehicles and Automobile Systems and to enable the engineers explore new areas and create new avenues in the fields of R&D and to focus on developing the talent of the Automobile Engineer in new technologies and business management skills. They have to design and develop according to the postulations of regulation and specified standards, and have to demonstrate the prototype for optimize power, best fuel economy and less emission addressing the safety.
The demand for Automotive Technology is growing with the expansion of Automotive Industries and increasing demand for vehicle as well as power. With increasing concern for pollution and fuel efficiency, these engineers also set standard of qualities such as making the vehicle fuel efficient, reduction in pollution, biodiesel, etc. and using various types of dynamometers and pollution measuring and wheel aligning instruments which are incorporated in our laboratory. There is a need to cater academia to support the above demand.
Scope
The two-year M.Tech. in Automotive Technology aims to fill the critical needs of the industry and to fill the gap in the availability of highly skilled AT scientists and engineers.
The automotive sector has seen an unprecedented growth in the last decade. This has led to a number of Indian and multinational companies setting up their manufacturing and in many case their major R & D facilities in India.
The programme content delivers a comprehensive range of topics integral to the study of Automotive Technology.
These include Advanced Internal Combustion Engines, Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, Fuel Cell Technology, Autotronics and Vehicle Intelligence and ECU Development in Automotive Systems to name but a few.
Graduates of the programme may also wish to continue to PhD level in this exciting field of study.
