Dr. Aby Sam

Dr. Aby Sam has beenworking as Executive Director, Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI), Chennai,since 1984. HGI consists of several leading institutions of higher learning like Hindustan University (Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science - Deemed to be University), Chennai; KCG College of Technology, Chennai; Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology, Chennai; Hindustan College of Arts & Science; Orient Flights Aviation Academy; and Hindustan International Schools, Chennai (Guindy, Karapakkam, Padur&Padappai).

After completing B.E. in Civil Engineering in First Class with Distinction from Kerala University in 1982, he obtained a Master of Engineering (M.E.) degree from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai in Civil Engineering in 1985 in First Class with Distinction.He obtained a Ph.D.in Civil Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, in 1998.

Having over 40 years of experience in the Academic Administration of Higher Educational Institutions, he has gained in-depth experience in the establishment of Technical Institutions, Accreditation and Ranking process, Curriculum Development & Infrastructure Planning, Quality Assurance, Faculty Administration & Performance evaluation, Academic Audit of Technical Institutions, etc. He has travelled widely in the USA, UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa and East Asian Countries to participate in Educational Seminars and Conferences, exhibitions, etc. organized by various Government agencies/Institutions.

He is a Member of the Governing Council of various Higher Education Institutions, Academic Bodies and a member of several Professional Societies. He is also associated with the Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), etc.
