University Day 2026 was celebrated on 17 April 2026. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Ashok George Verghese, Pro Chancellor and the Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Nikhil Rao K, Director and Chief Engineer, Boeing, Chennai. The other dignitaries for the occasion were, Dr. Vikas Misra, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Muthukumar Subramanian, Registrar, Mr. Enid Verghese Jacob, Deputy Director, directors, deans, heads of departments, faculty, staff and students.
Dr. Ashok George Verghese, Pro-Chancellor, in his Presidential Address, underscored that University Day is a celebration of the enduring vision of Founder Dr. K. C. G. Verghese. He encouraged every student of Hindustan to firmly etch their dreams and pursue their passions with the same conviction that defined the Founder’s journey. Highlighting the rapidly evolving and exponentially accelerating world we live in, he stressed the importance of agility in decision-making and action. He further noted that both Central and State Governments provide substantial funding support for start-ups, urging students to leverage these opportunities to transform their ideas into reality. Concluding on an inspiring note, he reminded students that opportunities are abundant and one must actively seek them to succeed.
The Chief Guest’s address distilled five powerful principles, each resonating deeply with the life and legacy of Founder K. C. G. Verghese. Emphasizing integrity, he urged students to “carve ethics in stone and opinions in sand,” while highlighting the need to build wisdom beyond abundant information. He advocated a bias for action, reminding that even a one-degree shift can transform outcomes. Encouraging resilience, he called for healthy competition without complaint and, above all, unwavering self-belief. These reflections mirrored the Founder’s journey that was marked by vision, perseverance, and purpose thereby offering students a timeless blueprint for meaningful and impactful living.
The programme commenced with prayer song by the University Choir followed by the University Anthem. Dr. Ashokan, Dean – Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, delivered the Welcome Address. Dr. Vikas Misra, Vice Chancellor, presented the Annual Report for the academic year 2025–26, offering a comprehensive overview of the University’s achievements across academic, research, and administrative domains, reaffirming its commitment to excellence. The Chief Guest was formally introduced by Dr. Muttan, Director – Research. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Muthukumar Subramanian, Registrar.
A highlight of the event was the felicitation of Dr. Ramajeyathilagam, Professor, Department of Aeronautical Engineering, who was honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation and a cash award of ₹2 lakhs in recognition of his outstanding research contributions. The occasion also featured the Investiture Ceremony of the Student Council Members for 2026–27. Students were recognized for their exemplary achievements during 2025–26 under the categories of Academic Excellence, Outstanding Achievement (Co-Curricular), Star Sportsperson, and the Rising Phoenix Award (Extra-Curricular). The cultural segment included an Invocation Dance, Fusion Dance, and a Light Music performance by the HITS Dance and Music Band. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
