Fiesta ’22 – Fresher’S Talent Hunt

Fiesta ’22, the Fresher’s Talent Hunt was celebrated at HITS on 26 November 2022. The freshmen students from the Engineering and Technology and SPADE participated enthusiastically and showcased their talents on their special day. The chief guest for the event was Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali Dewan to Prince of Arcot.

The Chief Guest began his speech with his greetings to the students and thanked the Management for inviting him to the campus. He said that the beauty of the Indian Nation is in its diversity. He urged the students to celebrate this unity of India. He also added that for a person to lead a peaceful life, they require two things such as good health and a strong and reliable relationship. This two will lead a person towards success. The Dewan invited the students of HITS for a tour of his Amir Mahal in Royapettah. Being a renowned Quiz Master, the Chief Guest conducted a general knowledge quiz for the students. He surprised the audience by extending an invitation to the winners of the quiz to visit his palace for a royal lunch and palace tour.

Dr. Ashok G. Verghese, Director, HITS in his felicitation address welcomed the freshmen to the Bay Range Campus and wished them success during their stay in HITS. He insisted that students must give importance to prayer and spiritual life which helps them to focus within themselves. He also informed the students about the TEDx Hindustan University that happened on the same day. He urged the students to participate in such events. The Director also said that there are funding agencies which are ready to help students who have outstanding ideas. He asked the freshmen to make use of these funds. He insisted that students should travel abroad on exchange programmes through the MoUs that HITS has established with many international Universities. He concluded his motivating and inspiring speech by wishing the freshmen all success.

Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice-Chancellor, HITS, in his address said that Fiesta ’22 is the first techno cultural event for the freshmen. He said that events like this are conducted in HITS in order to fulfil the vision of the Founder Chairman Dr. K. C. G. Verghese, which states: “To Make Every Man a Success and No Man a Failure.” He encouraged the students to participate more in such competitions and win laurels for the Institution. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Angelina Geetha, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology. Dr.Pon Ramalingam, Registrar introduced the Chief Guest and briefed the audience of the Dewan’s accolades and the glorious history of his ancestors.

Later, the students showcased their talents in music, dance, drama, stand-up comedy and fashion show. The cultural session of Fiesta ’22 was a gateway to identify the new talents on campus. The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. D. Piriadarshani Professor & HOD (Science & Humanities).
