The Hindustan Group of Institutions celebrated Christmas on 18 December 2024 at the BayRange Campus, Padur, Chennai. Presided over by Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chancellor ofHITS and Chairman of HGI, the event featured Rt. Rev. Dr. Gregorios Mar Stephanos Episcopa,Bishop of Chennai-Bangalore Diocese, Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, as the ChiefGuest, and Ms. Michaela Kuchler, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, as theGuest of Honour. Dr. Verghese delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing unity, joy, andHindustan’s achievements in 2024, including advancements in academics, research, and theethical adoption of Artificial Intelligence. Rt. Rev. Dr. Gregorios shared a Christmas message onthe values of light, knowledge, and joy, encouraging young minds to be torchbearers ofenlightenment. Ms. Kuchler announced an upcoming exhibition and movie screening onHolocaust Remembrance Day, hosted by HITS, and highlighted the educational opportunitiesavailable in Germany. The celebration began with an opening prayer by Rev. Justin Jose,followed by hymns by the HITS Choir, a Bible reading by Mr. David Ryan Marthandan, and awelcome address by Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor, HITS. Carol performances by choirsfrom HITS, K. C. G. College of Technology, Hindustan College of Arts and Science, and otherinstitutions were a highlight. Musical dances by Hindustan College, Mysuru, and HindustanInternational Schools added festive cheer. Prizes were awarded for Christmas-themedcompetitions, and the choir of Madras Christian College and Bishop Heber Chapel performed“Silent Night” and “Jingle Bells.” The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. M.Muthukannan, closing prayer by Rev. Joseph Lino, and a benediction by Rt. Rev. Dr. Gregorios.
