Yarona'S-21

YARONA’21 is an astounding inter-departmental cultural fest hosted by the Office of Student Affairs of Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, from 12 to15 July 2021. Filled with a whole bunch of entertaining and explorative events, YARONA has always been the most magnificent event, happening every year, to promote healthy competition to bring out the best in young sprouts of exceptional talents, wonderfully topped with departmental championship and exciting prizes for winners of individual competitions. This amazing platform is definitely a spirit-lifter for the vibrant youth to enhance their potential even amidst the global pandemic conditions.

The fresh and beautiful Monday morning was marked by the much-awaited flag off of the exciting and fun-filled inter-departmental cultural festival, YARONA’21.The ceremony began with the rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the University Anthem. Blessings from the Almighty was then invoked by Rev. Justin Jose. Welcome address was given by Ms. Carolyn Mariam Tharakan, Editor, HSC, who was also the Host for the day. Felicitations for the ceremony was given by Dr. A Prabhaharan, Head of Student Affairs, who filled the atmosphere with his enthusiasm and encouraging words about YARONA’21.

Ms. Lipika Pilli, Vice president, HSC, introduced the Chief Guest and emphasized on his immense passion and love for music. His experiences and tutoring under World class Musicians, for eminent projects.Chief Guest, Mr. Karthik Raman shared the wonderful memories about his college days in HITS and gave a melodious treat, filled with nostalgias. He expressed his immense happiness and heart felt gratitude to once again “get back home” and interact with all his professors. He also reminisced about the support offered by the college during his college days packed with shows and music.

The inaugural function was brightened up by an elegant Classical dance performance by Mr. DanushDattathireyan, 3rd year, B.Tech Aerospace. Chief Guest, Mr. Karthik Raman was delighted to watch the subtle and rhythmic moves by Danush, who had also danced on the Jathi sung by Mr. Karthik. The inaugural ceremony came to an end with an official Flag off for YARONA’21 events and the Vote of Thanks was given by Ms.Varsha Nair, 2nd year, BA English, acknowledging the HSC members, dignitaries, Chief Guest and the organizing committee. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

The various exciting events of YARONA’21 came to an end on 15 July, with a healthy participation of over 400 students, via the online medium. A valedictory ceremony was held to mark the end of the beautiful journey of art, talents and culture.Welcome address was given by Ms. Carolyn Mariam Tharakan, Editor, HSC, who was also the host for the day. Felicitations for the ceremony was given by Dr. A Prabaharan, Head of Student Affairs, who was very happy and amazed with the performances and talents we witnessed in YARONA’21. Dr.Pon Ramalingam, Registrar, felicitated the coordinators and participants of YARONA’21, for the extraordinary effort they have put forth to make the event a huge success.

Dr. R. W. Alexander Jesudasan, Pro Vice Chancellor spoke about the beautiful memories that these little college moments serve us in our lives to cherish forever. Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice Chancellor, HITS shared his nostalgic feelings about the wonderful and colourful times of once offline fests and how it filled the college with excitement, before the pandemic hit the world.Ms. Lipikapilli, Vice president, HSC, introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. E. Bhaskaran, who was an alumnus of HITS, Ex- president of HITSAA, and general manager of District Industries Centre.Dr.E. Bhaskaran congratulated all the talented students who had taken a part in YARONA’21. He also spoke about the various opportunities awaiting the students, especially in the field of Entrepreneurship.

Ms. Poornima Mohan, Treasurer, HSC, introduced the Guest of Honour, Ms.Deepalakshmi Ravichandran, who is also a proud alumna of HITS. She was also titled ‘Mrs. Superwoman Singapore 2021’ and is a General Manager at Laminaar Aviation Infotech Pvt., Singapore.Guest of Honor, Ms. Deepalakshmi Ravichandran, shared her views and thoughts on multiple college fests gave her a lot of preparedness, courage and confidence to face a lot of challenges in her life. She also emphasised on the importance of striving hard to reach success with a “can do” attitude.

Bright colours of entertainment and talent filled the ceremony with an extravagant fusion dance performance by Ms. Varsha (3rd year Fashion Design), Ms. Nisha (3rd year, fashion design), Mr. Om (3rd year, B.Tech Aeronautical) and Mr. Danush (3rd year, B.Tech Aerospace) which was splendid and made the audience groove in rhythm.

A trailer of results was released, and the results of YARONA’21 was announced to be declared via YouTube Stream video, which excited the viewers and encouraged them to stay tuned.The valedictory ceremony came to an end with the Vote of Thanks given by Ms.Varsha Nair, 2nd year, BA English, acknowledging the HSC members, dignitaries, Chief Guest, Guest of Honor and the organizing committee. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
