The new International Urban and Regional Cooperation (IURC),Asia and Australasia (AA) programme was officially launched in India in the IURC Forum with over24 cities across the globe participatingon 24 February 2022. The launch was organised jointly by the Delegation of the European Union to India and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, India. Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, India; Dr. Ronald Hall, Senior Expert, Directorate General of Regional and Urban Policy, European Commission; Ms Kamilla Kristensen-Rai, Counsellor, Delegation of the European Union; Mr Pablo Gandara, Team Leader of IURC Asia & Australasia; Dr Panagiotis Karamanos, Country Coordinator for IURC India presided over the event.

OUTCOME
The problem was well recognized for its relation to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The proposed cooperation for a circular economy and waste-to-energy technologies were highly appreciated.
An affirmatory concurrence was reached by the panel experts to sanction the project.
