To promote the habit of cycling, reduce the usage of motor vehicles, and lower the consumption of fuels, a cycle rally was organised on 13 August 2021 by the Office of Student Affairs. Vice Chancellor, Dr.S.N.Sridhara flagged off the cycle rally on a brisk Friday morning. Sun was just rising and the weather was chill with rain showering a few hours before the rally. Yet, the enthusiasm of three dozen cyclists comprising administrators, faculty members and students did not deter. The Cycle Rally started from Symphony Mural, Jubilee Block and went through the Women's Hostel, Galaxy Hostel, Jupiter Hostel, MGR Auditorium, Senate House, Edison Block, Administrative Block, Main Gate, School of Building Science, School of I.T and ended at Founder's Block.
Head - Student Affairs said that the Fit India Programme of Government of India encourages citizens to cycle for a variety of reasons. Not only to increase physical fitness but also to save a huge exchequer on foreign exchange by oil imports. By cycling, people can also reduce pollution and increase the longevity of human beings; and Hindustan just emphasises the same for the personal, social, national and universal well-being. Dr. B. Selvamuthukrishnan, Sports Officer and Head of School of Physical Education and Sports Science coordinated the event.
