CELEBRATION OF UGADI 2023 | Event Date: Wednesday, 22nd, March 2023

The Office of Student Affairs organized UGADI ’23 to celebrate Telugu New Year on 22 March 2023 with great enthusiasm and fervour. The event was marked by the presence of Dr. S. N. Sridhara, Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Pon. Ramalingam, Registrar; Dr. K. S. Shaaji, Dean, Student Affairs; Ms. Beena James, Head i/c, Student Affairs, staff, and students. The event was celebrated with cultural programme and a traditional lunch.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the Vice-Chancellor, who warmly greeted all the guests and participants. He highlighted the importance of Ugadi in Telugu culture and the significance of the festival in heralding a new beginning. While addressing the gathering, the Registrar emphasized the need to preserve and promote cultural heritage in academic institutions.

The cultural program included traditional Telugu dances, songs, and music. The performances by the students were well-received, and the audience enjoyed the vibrant display of Telugu culture. The event also featured trivial questions on Telugu culture and history asked by the Vice-Chancellor, which saw active participation of the students.

After the cultural programme, a traditional Telugu feast was served. The feast included a variety of dishes, such as pulihora (tamarind rice), poornalu (sweet), Ugadi pachadi, and traditional Telugu meals. The food was served on banana leaves, which is a traditional way of serving food in South India.

The event provided an opportunity for the Telugu community of our university to greet each other and celebrate their culture and traditions. It also helped to promote Telugu culture and traditions to non-Telugu people who attended the event. The cultural performances, traditional food, and cultural activities were appreciated by all, making it a memorable event.
