BOEING CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME | Event Date: Wednesday, 22nd, February 2023
A Team of Delegates from Boeing visited the Bay Range Campus on 22 February 2023. The squad included Mr Krupal Aerpula, Director and Chief Engineer; Mr. Venkata Babu Pariath, Sr. Manager, Support Data Engineering; Mr. Ramanathan Srinivasan, Leader- Support Data Engineering; Mr. Thulasi Krishna Rao BansiRao, Sr. Manager, Design Engineering; Mr. Ekambaram K, Senior Engineer; Amirtha Ganesan Mani, Manager – Modification Engineering; Mr. Pattu Rajan Ganesan, Manager – BDS Engineering; and Mr. Marankhan Abdul Sikander, Technical Illustration Engineer, Boeing and Alumni, HITS. They were greeted and welcomed by the University Officials.
The event commenced with Tech Talks. The first talk was delivered by Mr. Krupal Aerpula, who presented a video on Boeing and shared the various avenues and technologies of Boeing India Engineering. The second talk was by Mr. Ekambaram Krishnan who spoke on the topic “Strength Analysis of Aircraft Structural analysis.” He highlighted the current projects of Boeing related to usage of composite materials in Boeing 787 (which is made by using 50% of advance composites). The lecture also focused on the fields of Boeing practices Additive manufacturing technologies for composite material and components. Mr. Krishnan also pointed out the importance of structural research for any component and the reasons for failures. He concluded the lecture with the salient points of preventing failures for their products in the field of commercial, military and exploration usage. The tech talks ended with a Q & A session. All the Boeing leaders were enthusiastic in answering the queries of the student audience.
The second session was a panel discussion on “Future of engineering in India” and was moderated by Mr. Thulasi Krishna Rao BansiRao. The panellists included Mr. Krupal Aerpula, Mr. Venkata Babu Pariath, Mr. Ramanathan Srinivasan, Dr.S. N Sridhara, Vice Chancellor, HITS and Dr. Kuppan Chetty, Professor & Head, Department of Mechatronics, HITS. The discussion dwelled on the various key areas like AI/Ml in the industry and academia, the avenues for Boeing to be associated with the University, diversity, skill sets required for fresh engineers etc., The panel also discussed on how an educational institution can work with big industry giants to improve the on-job experience of their students and how students can make use of the opportunity.
The gathering was formally welcomed by Dr Asokan, Dean School of Aeronautical Engineering. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Kavitha, Head Placement and Training.
