About the program
Studying Food Technology opens the doors to a wide range of career options. Students can work in a product development lab oriented to introducing the newest food products to hit the market, or on the factory floor involved in the production of food, quality check, packaging, and observing food safety standards. The Department has been designed to groom students in areas related to the field of Food Science, Nutrition, and Technology. The programs offer a curriculum highlighting Food Processing Technology, combining food science, food product development, and food business, and equips students with the fundamentals of food science and applied food technology skills required for a career in the food industry. Students will learn not only in the classrooms but through practical laboratories internships, and industrial visits that focus on industry problems and solutions. Students will obtain hands-on experience in industrial-standard food processing plants.
OBJECTIVE
To impart knowledge in areas related to Food Science and Technology; enable the students to understand the food composition along with its Physio-chemical, nutritional, microbiological, and sensory aspects; acquaint the students with the technologies of food processing and preservation of plant and animal foods; cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits vegetables, spices, meat, fish, poultry, seafood, milk, and dairy products; stress on the importance of food safety and quality .
