About the Department

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 1985, with a vision to develop the Department as a Centre of Excellence in Research and Development. Our mission is to develop innovative teaching and learning pedagogies among students and infuse scientific temperament. The department offers UG program in B.Tech. ECE, B. Tech in Semiconductor Technology and B. Tech in Biomedical Engineering. 
The program provides a sound foundation for students wishing to pursue a career in Electronics Engineering, IC Design, Biomedical Engineering, AI Based Healthcare, Robotics, and Assistive Technology, Internet of Things through a diverse range of theoretical skills and practical experience, in the context of real time applications.

B.Tech in Semiconductor Technology

This cutting-edge program is designed for visionaries, tech enthusiasts, and problem-solvers eager to revolutionize industries through advanced semiconductor design, fabrication, and applications. From AI-driven processors to next-gen communication systems, this program equips student with the expertise to drive breakthroughs in electronics, computing, and beyond.

B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering

The B. Tech in Biomedical Engineering in Hindustan Institute of technology and Science is crafted for dreamers, innovators, and problem-solvers who want to transform the medical world with cutting-edge technology, AI-driven healthcare, and life-saving devices. We are introducing the program from this academic year 2025-2026.The department offers UG program B. Tech in Biomedical Engineering with Honors in Clinical Engineering and Minors in AI Assisted HealthCare Technologies.
M. Tech in ECE with Specialization in Microelectronics and VLSI 
This program enables students to gain expertise in areas that include back-end and front-end microelectronics such as Processors and SoC design, Chip Design, VLSI CAD Tool Development, VLSI Device & Modelling, Microelectronics Technology & IC Fabrication, Embedded Systems, Machine Learning and Deep Learning for VLSI.
M.Tech in Defence Technology with Specialization in Communication Systems and Sensors
The DRDO collaborated and AICTE approved M.Tech. Course in Defence Technology (Communication Systems & Sensors) would infuse interest in students and motivate them to pursue their careers in research and development for defense and security to join the defense, PSUs and private defense industries. The M.Tech. in Defence Technology courses have been designed to produce postgraduates who will have the necessary theoretical & experimental knowledge, skill and aptitude in various defense technologies areas and pursue them to carry out R&D in defense, opening various career opportunities for Electronics and Communication engineers.
The students are encouraged to actively carry out their projects across various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering and to develop their technical and research skills by attending various workshops, conferences, competitions, etc.

B.Tech in Semiconductor Technology

The Semiconductor Technology Program is designed to equip students with theoretical and practical knowledge in semiconductor physics, device fabrication, and nanoelectronics. The curriculum includes fundamental courses in materials science, microelectronics, and integrated circuit (IC) design, along with hands-on training in state-of-the-art fabrication labs. The main focus is on the design, fabrication, and application of semiconductor materials and devices, providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the rapidly evolving electronics industry.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

PEO 1: Graduates will develop a strong foundation to excel as professionals in semiconductor physics, device fabrication, and semiconductor packaging technologies to address the societal needs.

PEO 2: Graduates will demonstrate expertise in VLSI Design, semiconductor materials and advanced manufacturing techniques leveraging industry-driven training and projects to contribute to the digital transformation.

PEO 3: Graduates will focus towards AI-driven semiconductor product design and testing, fostering entrepreneurial skills through ethical practices and collaborative learning.

PEO 4: Graduates will engage in advanced problem-solving and research to address challenges in emerging areas of semiconductor design and manufacturing.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)

PSO 1:  Able to analyze, design, and optimize semiconductor devices using state-of-the-art electronic design automation tools and methodologies.

PSO 2: Able to demonstrate proficiency in designing, analyzing, and testing analog mixed-signal and RF circuits, display technologies ensuring their application in modern semiconductor based systems.
