About the Program

Bachelor of Physiotherapy is one of the most preferred branches of Healthcare Professional courses. It offers the knowledge of basic science disciplines like Anatomy, Physiology along with the professional disciplines like Rehabilitation and Re-education. As per the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act, which was published in the Gazette of India (CG-DL-E-28032021-226213) on March 28, 2021, Physiotherapists are considered as Healthcare Professionals. As directed by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, all Physiotherapists are endorsed as Doctors. Physiotherapists can put a prefix of ‘Dr’ and a suffix of ‘PT’ followed by their name after graduation.

Duration : 4 years + 6 months internship.

Minimum Eligibility : 10+2 with 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Academic progress : B.P.T., M.P.T., Ph.D., Post Doctoral.

Role and Responsibility of a Physiotherapist

A Physiotherapist has a major role & responsibility in a hospital scenario. Their role is crucial in pain management, pre-operative, and post-operative rehabilitation. Their responsibilities in the healthcare industry include:

  • Prescribing remedial exercises.
  • Muscle strength evaluation & quantification.
  • Treatment by electrotherapy modalities and different therapeutic exercises using automated machines.
  • Evaluating balance in neurologically affected patients.
  • Apply manual therapy, mobilization, manipulation of soft tissue techniques.
  • Wheelchair, and gait training with or without ambulatory aids.
  • Aid in-home evaluation to make the environment barrier-free and accessible.
  • Improving the status of patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
  • Treating pediatric patients.
  • Provide motherly care during antenatal, postnatal, labor, and lactation phases.
  • On field pain management in Sports.

  • PEO 1 - Acquire the knowledge and skills for providing comprehensive patient care assistance in the Allied Health/Paramedics and Healthcare sector/industry.
  • PEO 2 - Inculcate the inter-disciplinary approach for diagnosing and management of patient’s health problems.
  • PEO 3 - Improve the clinical, social and communication skills by providing hands on training in medical colleges and district hospitals.

  • Independent professional: Prepare students to work as independent Physiotherapists to assess, evaluate, diagnose, plan, and treat. 
  • Practice ethically: Student will be a qualified Physiotherapy practitioner who can work while following the legal, ethical, and professional standards of practise. 
  • Minimize disability: Minimize the impairments, activity constraints, participation restrictions, and disabilities in persons as a result of health or medical causes. 
  • Therapy for patient with impairment: Offer treatments to restore the integrity of bodily systems necessary for mobility, and enable independent functioning in the presence of impairments, dysfunction, disorders, and disabilities. 
  • Importance of exercise: Encourage the value of physical activity and exercise, in order to guarantee full participation in one's regular and anticipated social responsibilities.

Program’s Specific Outcomes (PSO)

  • PSO 1 - Allow you to assess a patient with impairments, functional disabilities and conclude based on his or her medical problems.
  • PSO 2 - Practically and therapeutically capable of making independent decisions as well as give therapy while keeping quality assurance in mind.
  • PSO 3 - Ability to handle and maintain physiotherapy equipment used in patient treatment, and also offer patient and caregiver, the education on different physiotherapeutic treatments and exercises.
  • PSO 4 - Recognize the theoretical foundations for evidence-based practice.
  • PSO 5 - Qualified to engage in or conduct practice-based research.

The Physiocare Laboratory is not only equipped with latest and advanced equipment, but also established as per the guidelines of National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act. The Physiocare laboratory has modalities related to Electrotherapy, Exercise Therapy, Manual Therapy, Heat Therapy, and Hydrotherapy. With the equipment available in Physiocare lab, pain management and rehabilitation can be provided through the following sections:
