The Beach Cleaning Campaign was organized by the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Team of HITS in association with iVolunteer (NGO) on 22 April 2023 at Kovalam Beach. It was a significant initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness and preserving the natural beauty of Kovalam beach.
The event was organized in view of the World Earth Day, which is celebrated globally on 22nd April every year to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable living. The campaign brought together more than 150 students from various departments, who volunteered their time and efforts to clean up the beach and promote environmental awareness among the public.
The Beach Cleaning Campaign was a comprehensive effort to remove litter, debris, and waste materials from the beach and its surroundings. The volunteers were divided into groups, and each group was assigned a specific area of the beach to clean. The teams worked tirelessly, collecting and disposing of the waste materials in a responsible and eco-friendly manner.
The event was also an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the environment and the negative impact of littering and pollution on marine life and human health. The volunteers interacted with the public and educated them about the significance of keeping the beach and its surroundings clean and healthy.
The Beach Cleaning Campaign was a massive success, and it not only helped in cleaning up the beach, but also in creating a sense of responsibility and ownership among the participants towards the environment.
