National-Science-Day-2017-Report | Event Date: Tuesday, 28th, March 2017
The National Science Day is one of the important event celebrated across the country by various scientific organizations and educational institutions since 1986 in recognition of the significant innovation on sprinkling of light by Sir C. V. Raman on 28 February 1928. The theme of the year 2017 is “ Science and Technology for specially abled persons” In this connection, School of Science and Humanities organized various competitions during the 2 nd and 3 rd week of March 2017 and provided a platform for the young minds. The details of the competitions are given below.

The National Science Day Celebration 2017at HITS was celebrated with a special guest lecture by the chief guest, Dr. C. Vijayan, Professor, Department of Physics, IIT Madras on 28th of March 2017 at the Padur Hall I. Faculty members from the department of Science and Humanities and the first year B. Tech. students from various disciplines participated in the program. The program started with an invocation. Dr.A. Ramesh Babu, HoD (Science and Humanities) welcomed the gathering and Dr. Baby Joseph Dean (Research) delivered the presidential address. Dr.S.Velmurugan,HoD Maths introduced the chief guest. The chief guest delivered the talk on 'Aspects of Scientific Thinking and Creativity'. After the chief guest speech, he gave away the certificates and prizes to the winners of the various competitions held in connection with the National Science Day 2017. Ms. Annie Aureen Albert, AP (SG), proposed the vote of thanks. The programme ended with the National Anthem.
