Education Excellence Awards to Hindustan University from ASSOCHAM

Dr. Ilavazhagan, Director Research, Hindustan University participated in the Higher Education Summit & National Education Excellence Awards Ceremony organized by ASSOCHAM on 23th Feb.2017 and ET Best Education Brands Meet organized by Economic Times Edge on 24th Feb.2017.

ASSOCHAM Higher Education Summit:Hindustan University received the Education Excellence Award for “Best University Promoting Research” from ASSOCHAM. The Awards were given away by Shri. Sandeep Jajodia, President, ASSOCHAM. Economic Times Best Education Brands Meet:The University received Certificate of Recognition and Award recognizing Hindustan University as a “Symbol of excellence in educating & skilling India’s future”.The Dy. Chief Minister of Delhi gave away the Certificate of recognition. .

The Higher Education Summit emphasized that the role of Universities is to create knowledge and disseminate. The Higher Education Institutions shall make the Graduates as job providers and not only job seekers. To this effect, Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, DST told that Govt. of India has planned to increase the funding to the Technology Business Incubators from present level to Rs. 10 crores through the Scheme NIDHI (National Initiative for Development and Harnessing Innovations). He also mentioned that in addition DST will fund 1000 positions of Faculty from abroad to be associated with Universities to conduct research, guide Research Scholars and set up Laboratories under the Programme GRIN (Global Research Interactive Network).

During his address Hon’ble Minister for HRD highlighted that the funding for Higher Educational Institutions will be through the newly created Agency HEFA (Higher Education Funding Agency) and the funding will be on competitive basis. Funding also will be available for Private Institutions also. He also mentioned the other Programmes such as Global Initiative for Academic Network (GIAN), Global Research Interactive Network (GRIN), Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCS).
