ANTI-RAGGING-CAMPAIGN-2017-REPORT | Event Date: Tuesday, 25th, July 2017
The Anti-Ragging Rally campaign was held at Hindustan University on 25th July 2017.The event was attended by 700 senior students. Dr.Pon Ramalingam, Registrar in his welcome address outlined the consequences of ragging and informed the students about the underlying legalities of offence. He also appreciated the students for making the campus a ragging–free institution for the last five years.
Lt.Col.S.Kandasamy (Retd.), Head (Student Affairs) introduced the Chief Guest Ms.B. Shamoondeswari, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Tamil Nadu Police Academy, Vandalur. He gave a brief overview of her career and achievement. Ms.B.Shamoondeswari, interacted with the students and also explained in detail the consequences and the repercussions of indulging in ragging incidents. She also briefed about the Anti-Ragging policies to be adopted by educational institutions and the legal aids and penalty related to the offence. The students shared their views on ragging and its ill-effects. She also advised the students to refrain from indulging in any kind of anti-social activities. Institution should play a vital role in counselling students indulging in ragging since proper counselling will definitely help the students and they will also refrain from anti social activities.
Student Cadet, NCC- Hindustan University Wing, administered the pledge against ragging. Students assembled took the pledge. The vote of thanks was proposed by Brig. (Retd.) Dr. Ravi Varman, Dean (Admin). He thanked the management for evincing interest organizing this event every year. He appreciated the committee members for successfully conducting the event and also the students who attended the event. The programme ended with the National Anthem. This was followed by the Anti Ragging rally which was flagged off from Hindustan University by the Chief Guest Ms. B. Shamoondeswari, IPS.
