Scope of the Course
The food-processing sector has a large potential for growth and socio economic impact as it leads to income generation by creating jobs for rural poor and thus reduces the burden on agricultural sector. It also helps in reduction of wastage, value addition, and enhancing manufacturing competitiveness. The Food Technologist, who can minimize postharvest losses, add value to agricultural produce and also they can enhance nation’s economy to a greater extent.
Why to start the course (Gap)
This course can help students especially from rural background area to get jobs by improving their skills. It help rural youth i.e. both men and women to start their own enterprises. It also helps to increase the value addition of post-harvest agricultural produce in the rural sectors.

The students after successful completion can contribute to nation’s economy by becoming entrepreneur. They can contribute to society in terms of skilled work force for food processing industries.
