The Dept., of EIE, organized a one day visit to RLT Instrumentation Pvt Ltd, Chengelpet
The industry is situated in a small village in outskirts of Chengalpet district .The RLT Instrumentation and group of companies are involved in manufacturing various types of flowmeters. A team comprising of 17 faculty members from Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering visited the industry.
The team along with Dr.Uppu Ramachandraiah ,Professor and Head, Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was received by Mr.R.Narasimhamurthy, Vice President-Project & Training, RLT Instrumentation Private Limited. He made a brief presentation about the company’s vision, mission,suppliers, distributors and its prospective customers. Mr.T.Karthick ,Director of the company explained about their products, calibration and maintenance services.

After the presentation the faculty members were divided into four teams and taken around the industry to visit the various units like design, assembly, operation, maintenance and testing. The engineers at each unit elaborated and practically demonstrated its functionality with technical specifications. Subsequently, in testing unit the flow meters that are developed were tested for 72 hours. After testing, the experts confirmed that the meter could work in any environment. Followed by the demonstration, the team with the industry expert visited the Research & Development division of the industry. Development of DAQ modules and interface system for flow meters in the Research & Development division was briefed by the expert.
The calibration unit that facilitates calibration of various flow meters for different dimensional pipes were also explained. After the visit around the industry an interactive session was conducted by Mr.R.Narasimhamurthy, Vice President, RLT Instrumentation Private Limited. The various doubts and queries raised by the faculty were clarified during the interaction. At the end of the session, the faculty expressed that the visit was very informative and valuable. They also felt very happy for an opportunity to enhance their theoretical knowledge by exposing themselves to practical demonstrations.
